Reload Shot (RS): two shots in the time of one
The Reload Shot (RS) is the trick that makes two shotguns fire back to back with barely a gap. It separates people who shoot in the game from people who shoot at the game’s rhythm.
Before the sequence, one misunderstanding needs clearing up, because it trips up almost everyone.
What the Reload Shot does NOT do
Despite the name, it does not reload your gun. And it does not make your gun fire faster.
Every weapon has its own delay between shots, and that timer keeps running exactly the same. What tapping R does is unlock weapon switching earlier — without it, your character “settles” after firing before letting you switch.
Since the second gun’s timer has been running while you used the first, it comes out ready to fire. That is why:
- RS requires two firearms to produce two shots;
- it reloads nothing — the switch cancels the reload before it happens.
The community guide on Steam is blunt: “This does not actually reload your gun, this is for SPEED.” Count your shots and do a real reload when you have a moment.
The sequence
The sequence
- 1 2 Draw gun 1 sword in slot 1, two firearms in slots 2 and 3
- 2 esq. Fire you can hold the button for the whole combo
- 3 R Tap R almost at the same time as the shot — this is where almost everyone goes wrong
- 4 3 Switch to gun 2 glued to the R, but after it registers
- 5 esq. Fire or the button is already held
- 6 R Tap R
- 7 2 Back to gun 1
a rolling chord, not three separate taps
volta ao passo 2 — at a steady rhythm, not mashing
The detail almost every guide gets wrong
Plenty of guides teach “fire, wait for the shot to come out, then press R”. That produces a slow version — one the Korean community publicly corrected on Masangsoft’s official board, because the GM’s own official video guide showed the wrong motion:
“You have to press the fire button and the reload button almost at the same time for it to be a real reload shot.”
Watch out for two intervals that constantly get confused:
- click → R: almost simultaneous. This is where most people wrongly hit the brakes.
- R → switch: glued, but the R has to register first. Switching too fast means the R never lands, and you just did a plain Swap Shot.
In practice the whole combo is a rolling chord: click → R → weapon key, each as close to the previous one as possible.
How to know it’s working
By ear, not by eye.
- Two shots almost touching = the cancel worked.
- Two shots with silence between them = it failed.
There is another self-check, this one from a veteran: hold the fire button while switching weapons. If there is no delay between the two shotguns, you are reload shotting. And yes — you can hold fire; it is legitimate execution and the standard way to verify. What you cannot do is press R before the shot comes out.
Final rule: if you actually saw your character’s hand working the magazine, you were already too late.
Common mistakes
| Mistake | Fix |
|---|---|
| Waiting for the reload to start (or finish) | Cancels 100% of the benefit. It becomes a slow Swap Shot with a useless step in the middle |
| Switching before the R registers | The R doesn’t land and you did a Swap Shot |
| Thinking it reloads the gun | It doesn’t. Count your shots |
| Trying it with one shotgun | Without a second gun there is no cold barrel to fire |
| Pressing the key of the gun already in hand | Does nothing and breaks the chain. Drill the 2↔3 alternation slowly, without firing |
| Standing still while executing | Pure RS pins you in place. Beginners practising RS die from behind |
| Mashing all three keys | The combo has real bottlenecks; ignoring them produces fewer shots, not more |
| Using it with rocket launchers | It jams your shots |
One tip that applies to all of K-Style: cap your framerate. If FPS swings a lot, the timing gets inconsistent — see the settings guide.
How to train
- Sort your binds first, and use direct slots (2 and 3), never the cyclic wheel.
- Dry alternation: in the training room, switch 2↔3 repeatedly without firing, until it is automatic.
- Add the shot, one pair at a time, listening to the gap.
- Add the R, glued to the click. Compare the sound before and after.
- Steady rhythm, not raw speed. RS is cadence, not mashing.
- Move on to RSS — the Slash Shot with a reload at the end — because pure RS leaves you standing still, and standing still gets you killed.
If it feels broken, it’s probably not you
As with the rest of K-Style, inputs have been reported as inconsistent since the relaunch. Check the status page before concluding it is your execution.
Also worth noting, new in the 2026 version: there is an auto-reload after firing option in the control settings that changes part of this flow. If you enable it, retest RS before assuming the behaviour is unchanged.
Where this takes you
RS on its own is limited — its real value shows up once it is moving:
- Slash Shot + a reload at the end = RSS, the version that moves.
- Chained with Butterfly and Double Butterfly, it completes your repertoire between sword and gun.
The community video guide demonstrates the Reload Shot (the link opens at the right timestamp), and K-Style from zero organises everything in learning order.
